Scientists discovered the mechanism of development of type 2 diabetes
Scientists from the University of Leeds in the UK reported that they were able to trace how the mechanism of development of type 2 diabetes works.
According to the information, the scientists were able to trace how the hIAPP molecule, an islet amyloid polypeptide that helps a healthy body regulate insulin levels, is transformed into amyloid.
The researchers found two compounds, which they called molecular modulators: one of the compounds slows down, and the other accelerates the transition of hIAPP to amyloid.
Scientists hope that their discovery will help create new drugs that can control and even stop the development of type 2 diabetes.
