What is the Study of Political Science All About?

Political science broadly refers to the study of governments, public policies and political behavior both in the United States and abroad, according to the American Political Science Association.

Political science is the study of politics and power from domestic, international, and comparative perspectives. It entails understanding political ideas, ideologies, institutions, policies, processes, and behavior, as well as groups, classes, government, diplomacy, law, strategy, and war.

Vanguard in modernization
Further, the development of democracy in different countries proceeded according to different scenarios, but, in general, in one direction. Almost simultaneously after the victory of the bourgeois revolutions, the first constitutions were created in the USA (1787) and in France (1791), in which fundamental human rights and freedoms were legislatively enshrined. Today it is already difficult to imagine a state without a constitution .

Along with the development of democracy, its degeneration from direct to representative democracy also takes place.

Direct democracy - every citizen is directly involved in decision-making.
Representative democracy - Citizens delegate decision-making power to elected candidates.
Problems of modern democracy
Democracy today is the leading political regime in the world.

But, unfortunately, this fact does not save her from global problems .

The authorities are interested in the voice of the people only during the pre-election race, after receiving the coveted number of votes, interest in the needs of the electorate (what is this?) Noticeably fades away.
The stability of a democratic regime is associated with the implementation of a social policy that takes into account the needs of a wide range of the country’s population. Such a picture is an extremely rare occurrence in the modern world.
Democracy tends to transform into other types of regimes, up to and including dictatorship.
There is a “front” democracy, when the regime is aimed at ensuring the interests of oligarchic groups, the opinion of the majority ceases to have any weight.
