A pulley consists of a wheel mounted on an axle that is fixed to the framework called the block. The wheel can rotate freely in the block. The groove in the circumference prevents the string from slipping.

Fixed Pulley

If the block of the pulley is fixed then it is called a fixed pulley.

Note: Almost all students, when they go abroad for study, are very homesick, so some of them, not having finished their studies, return home. According to many of our compatriots, you can learn English abroad without any difficulty. They are confident that language skills in another country develop automatically. But this is not entirely correct, because you still have to learn the rules and study the textbooks. There are people who live abroad for a long time and at the same time can’t learn the language at the proper level. Distance learning, although not so popular in Russia as full-time, – at least if it is a question of the first higher education, – it nevertheless has a constant high demand among entrants. In spite of the fact that the correspondence form of obtaining knowledge provides a facilitated theoretical preparation in comparison with the daytime, purposeful students prefer to compensate this conditional drawback with real work experience, which, according to the practice of employment, is appreciated by employers much higher than the grades in the diploma.
