What is Meant by Kinetic Molecular Theory of Matter

Kinetic Molecular Theory of Matter

The Kinetic Molecular Theory of Matter has the following postulates:

Matter is made up of very small particles called molecules.

These molecules are in the same state of motion, hence they possess kinetic energy. Their motion can be translator, vibratory or rotational.

The molecules attract each other with a force. This force depends upon the distance between them. Force is inversely proportional to the distance between the molecules.

When a substance is heated its temperature as well as molecular motion increases due to this motion, kinetic energy also increases. We can say that when the kinetic energy of the molecules increases, then temperature of the substance rises.

Note: The correspondence form of training is a form of organization of the educational process, which combines the features of day education and self-education. A large amount of knowledge (70%) students learn by correspondence. However, in accordance with the state standards of training specialists with higher education, the correspondence form of instruction is carried out according to the same curricula, in the same volume and with the same list of disciplines as the day. The diploma of higher education is the same both for full-time students and for correspondence students. The form of training is indicated in the annex to the diploma. Before each session, the university sends out correspondence certificates to correspondence students, on the basis of which students are sent from work. If the student receives a higher education for the first time, the employer is obliged to provide paid leave for the period of the training and examination session.
