What are the differences Between Scalars and Vectors

Differences Between Scalars and Vectors

Scalar

It is defined as:

“Scalar quantity are those physical quantity which require magnitude, express with suitable unit only is called scalar quantity.”

Characteristics Of Scalar Quantity

  1. Scalar quantity can be added, subtracted, multiplied, divided according to the ordinary algebraic rule.
  2. Two scalars are equal if they have same unit.

Representation

It can be represented by the numbers with decimals, (positive negative).

Example

Mass, Distance, Temperature, volume, speed etc.

Vector

It is defined as:

Vector quantity are those physical quantity which require magnitude, express with suitable unit as well as proper direction is called vector quantity.

Characteristics of Vector Quantity

  1. Vector quantity can’t be added, subtracted, multiplied, divided according to the ordinary algebraic rule.
  2. It can be added, subtracted, multiplied, divided according to the some special rules, like head and tail rule, Graphical method etc.
  3. Vector always treats as positive.

Representation

It can be represented by an arrow with headline. The length of an arrow represents its magnitude and the headline represents the direction of the vector.

Example

Weight, Displacement, Velocity, Acceleration, Torque, Momentum etc.

Note: Virtually all spheres of life of modern people have changed significantly under the influence of computer and information technology. The sphere of education was no exception, since the information of the educational process in the Federation is one of the most important mechanisms affecting the main directions of modernization of the entire educational system. As a result, along with traditional forms of education, a new form of education has emerged – distance learning, based on modern information and communication technologies, which allows not only to learn, but also to raise the qualification level of its users. Distance form of training is the result of the evolution of traditional education, which led to the emergence of an electronic board and computer training systems that contain electronic textbooks and programs, intended for use by a virtual audience. In turn, the virtual course of lectures allows you to reduce or lengthen the learning time at your discretion. In the modern world, “distance learning” is possible in any place where there is a computer. And the material is easily structured in accordance with the requirements that are put forward to students of any higher education institution. The student can study at any time convenient for him, depending on individual needs.
