Potential energy is the energy within an object because of its position or state.

Gravitational potential energy: E = mgh

 

 

Where:

 

E = Potential Energy [J]

 

M = Mass [kg]

 

g = Gravitational Acceleration [m s-2]

 

h = height of the location of the object [m]

 

Elastic potential energy: F / N ..l

 

W = 1/2 FS

 

Where:

 

W = work done [J]

F = force exerted [N]

s = extension or compression of the spring [m]

 

 

Kinetic Energy

 

Kinetic energy is energy acquired by an object during movement.

 

E = 1/2 mv2

 

Where:

 

E = kinetic energy [J]

m = mass [kg]

 

v = velocity of the object [m s-I]

 

Note: Approximately this phrase I heard every time my mother tried to plant me for textbooks. Suspecting her in an incomprehensible display of Moscow snobbery and arrogance, I took in my hands another book of Harry Potter, an apple and fell to the bed. To understand that my mother was “oh, how right” I was able, after finishing school, entering the institute and going to work. It happened gradually. Having started most of the time with adults and smart people, it was understood that there are people who can not competently link two words. Their speech is packed with innumerable words by parasites, the brain refuses to accept rather simple things, and logic is completely absent. And it’s not that they stared at the eyes, asking what kind of circles I was drawing, trying to explain something, but about Euler and did not hear at all (still with horror I remember my card and a little deaf teacher in logic who I really, really did not like). The problem was the inability to think and reason.
