Note: Historically, the institutional structures of purposeful socialization up to the New time covered a relatively insignificant part of society and ensured the goal of forming a unified political, religious, military and economic elite. At present, the system of education in its importance, scope and content plays a more decisive role in the life of society than ever before. If historically the acquisition of education was economically unproductive, but a prestigious affiliation of representatives of a narrow, privileged stratum of the elite, at present the productive potential of society is directly determined by the wide dissemination of specialized knowledge. The condition for the successful functioning of a modern democratic political system is also the spread of mass education. Education serves the development of the personality, promotes its self-realization. At the same time, education is crucial for the society itself, ensuring the fulfillment of the most important tasks of a practical and symbolic nature. The function of the transfer of culture is most represented in societies with a pronounced historically oriented self-awareness, where there is concern about the preservation of traditional values, the fear of their loss outside the special system of the corresponding education. The realization of this function of education finds expression in the promotion of the disciplines of the humanitarian cycle – the history of society, language, literature, geography, religion and philosophy.
