In a rapidly evolving world, empowering young women with knowledge, discipline, and confidence is not just a dream, but a national necessity. It is with immense pride that we introduce you to a truly remarkable institution in our midst: Girls Cadet College Mardan (GCCM). This is not just any educational institution; it is a pioneering initiative, the first of its kind for girls in Pakistan, established under the visionary supervision of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in collaboration with the Pakistan Army. This article aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging overview of GCCM, highlighting its unique offerings and why it is the ideal place for our beloved daughters to embark on a journey of excellence and leadership.
Girls Cadet College Mardan (GCCM) stands as a beacon of hope and progress for female education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and indeed, for all of Pakistan. Its very existence addresses a critical need of our nation, providing an unparalleled environment specifically designed to groom young girls into well-rounded, confident, and disciplined individuals. As one of our esteemed community members has rightly pointed out, "Its need of our nation and for our beloved kids specially for girls. GCCM is one and only girls cadet college which has no comparison." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the institution's unique standing.
Unlike many private institutions, GCCM benefits from the robust backing of the KPK government and the invaluable collaboration of the Pakistan Army. This partnership ensures a high standard of education, discipline, and facilities, setting it apart. The vision behind GCCM, conceived in 2016 by Mr. Muhammad Atif Khan, then Minister of Education, and approved by Mr. Pervez Khattak, the Honourable Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was clear: to provide equal opportunities to girls, enabling them to become useful and responsible citizens.
The founder of this esteemed college, Br. Sarvar Javaid, is described as a person "down to earth in his nature which he is iron man when he is working to achieve his objective. He has devoted himself for this noble cause to groom up lady cadets." This dedication is evident in the remarkable transformation observed in the cadets. They emerge from GCCM as "well groomed, confident, disciplined and multi talented," a testament to the rigorous training and nurturing environment provided. The commitment extends to the faculty as well; "All faculty members are very hardworking and devoted," ensuring that every cadet receives the best possible guidance and mentorship.
While the college began functioning at a temporary campus in Government Commerce College for Women Mardan in May 2017, with its first entry of cadets in August 2017, the actual location for the college has been selected at Takht-i-Bahi. This site itself is of significant historical and educational importance, known as a great center of learning and a rich cultural heritage since the 1st Century. The future vision for GCCM on its permanent site, sprawling over 42 acres, includes state-of-the-art academic blocks, mess facilities, hostels, an auditorium, swimming pool, playing fields, staff colony, and more, promising an even more enriched learning and living experience for its cadets. GCCM is poised to become a feeder institution for both the Armed Forces and Civil Services, fulfilling its noble objective of preparing young women for leadership roles across various sectors.
