For doctors across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PGMI Peshawar represents a vital institution for honing their skills, acquiring specialized knowledge, and ultimately contributing to the healthcare landscape of our province.
A "university" in its broadest sense refers to an institution of higher learning that offers various academic degrees. PGMI Peshawar, while not a traditional multi-faculty university, functions as a highly specialized postgraduate medical training institute. Established in 1984, its core mission is to provide state-of-the-art postgraduate training facilities at par with international standards, ensuring a steady supply of professionally trained, ethical, competent, and caring specialists across all major and minor medical and surgical disciplines. This is crucial for addressing the healthcare manpower deficiencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and enhancing patient care across the country. PGMI Peshawar is affiliated with Khyber Medical University (KMU) for the award of various degrees and diplomas and is recognized and accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for its FCPS and MCPS programs. The institute plays a critical role in facilitating FCPS-II (Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons) training, a highly sought-after qualification that signifies specialist expertise in Pakistan. Beyond fellowships, PGMI also offers numerous diploma courses to health professionals. This dedication to advanced medical training ensures that doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have access to high-quality specialized education right here in our own province, saving them the cost and inconvenience of seeking training elsewhere. The institute actively promotes ethical and need-based research, further contributing to the advancement of medical science and patient care.

The value it offers is intrinsic to its mission: providing high-quality, accredited postgraduate medical education. However, medical professionals considering PGMI Peshawar can anticipate benefits that are inherent to government-backed institutions and the specific nature of medical training:
- Standardized Fee Structure: Training fees, where applicable, are typically standardized and regulated by the government or affiliated bodies, making them generally more affordable than private sector alternatives for similar-level qualifications.
- Stipends for Trainee Medical Officers: Postgraduate Residents (PGRs), also known as Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs), often receive a monthly stipend during their training period. This financial support helps offset living expenses and allows trainees to focus on their studies and clinical duties without significant financial strain.
- Access to Public Hospital Resources: Trainees benefit from extensive exposure to patient care in large public hospitals, which provide a wide variety of cases and learning opportunities that might be limited in smaller or private setups.
- Scholarship and Grant Opportunities: While not directly offered by PGMI itself, trainees may be eligible for various provincial or national scholarships, research grants, or specific government schemes designed to support medical education and research. These would need to be sought through external funding bodies or government announcements.
- Continuous Professional Development: PGMI regularly organizes free or subsidized workshops, seminars, and conferences for its trainees and other healthcare professionals, contributing significantly to their Continuous Medical Education (CME) points and skill enhancement.
Prospective trainees are encouraged to inquire directly with the PGMI administration regarding the exact fee structure for their chosen program and any available government-mandated stipends or support programs.

Good library with long hours but female section needs to be expanded as it tends to get crowded sometimes. Parking available inside.

The library is pretty amazing. It has attached Masjid, washroom, and a beautiful garden.

The worst place to visit. We had heard about the baboo (clerks) control here u experienced it. Even the CEO is a puppet in their hands. The library is very good but the librarian is the worse. They have nothing to do for the library, just looking for reasons to torture. The good thing was that their digital librarry used to be open 24/7, but its no more. Thanks to the new CEO with help of librarians.

One of the best professional institutes in the province producing quality doctors across the globe. Kp is anyway the largest exporter of qualified doctors in the the world and this is possible only with the help of this institute. Very beautifully constructed but the doctors waiting room should be well equipped with ACs. Besides, there is a dire need of some cafeteria inside the building.

A place where exam after part 1 is taken for induction. Wel behaved and friendly staff. Good library. And lawns. It lacks canteen so while staying for study in library you have to go HMC or IKD canteen for refreshment. It has a room dedicated for prayers.
